This week we hosted our Autumn Portfolio Tasting at the Bancroft office on Bermondsey Street. The theme of this tasting was new arrivals since we have added over 40 new wines to our portfolio this year. Alongside these were brand new vintages from some of our favourite growers from around the globe.

40th Wedding Anniversary
On Sunday my husband’s parents celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary. A giant marquee, hog roast, 100 friends and family and good wine are all you need for a good party. Even the rain didn’t dampen the spirits.
Ian and Katie have always been very generous to Will and I on the wine front but this weekend was extra special and on the Saturday night the cellar was raided.

Where has the summer got to? – Beirut, that’s where!
What could be the attraction of heading to the “Paris of the East” where the sunshine is virtually guaranteed with 30/35 degrees in the day falling to balmy mid twenties at night? Did I forget to mention the coastline, architecture, food, wine and history too? And it’s also not in the Euro Zone, which helps.

Wine Wednesday 7th September 2011
In attendance: Alex R, Martin, Stephen, James and Amy
It has been a while. Too long in fact, so much so that Wine Wednesday was actually on its namesake day - we just couldn’t wait any longer. This came as a surprise to most however; Carlos was unable to join us because he had just assumed it would be on a Thursday.

Traditional British Sunday Roast - Aged Rib of Beef with Rioja.
As a nation we have many fantastic and quirky traditions such as afternoon tea, cheese rolling, Maypole dancing, hot cross buns and English ale, however I have no doubt that the nation’s favourite has to be the great British Sunday roast, especially after a pint or two of the aforementioned ale!
