Furst Silvaner Independent Success
This week Anthony Rose from The Wine Gang listed the 2011
Rudolf Furst Silvaner Pur Mineral from Franconia as one of the 50 best wines of
this year offering good value for money. They showcased all 50 at this year’s
London Wine Fair with all of them receiving significant praise.
Rose praised the Silvaner in his report in the Independent,
saying that is was ‘a dry white of
considerable stonefruit flavours and great elegance’.
The Pur
Mineral range from Fürst is crafted from grapes grown in stony soils and
requiring intensive hands on work. This bone dry wine was created to
demonstrate the purity of the grapes it is made from and displays great
elegance and minerality. It pairs brilliantly with seafood dishes or poultry
and perfectly with asparagus or alternatively it is a great match to Sushi.

93 Parker Points for Domaine de l'Hortus
We're proud to report that three of our Domaine de l'Hortus wines recieved some serious accolades from The Wine Advocate's Jeb Dunuck this weekend
(eRobertParker.com, #211, Feb 2014):
Stock is very limited so snap these up while you can!
Domaine de
l’Hortus « Grande Cuvée » blanc 2012: Rating 93.

Domaine de
l’Hortus “Grande Cuvée » rouge 2011: Rating 92.
“Deeper and
richer, with loads of blackberry and black raspberry fruit supported by pepper,
olive, violets and meaty notions, the 2011 Pic Saint Loup « Grande Cuvée »
is medium to full-bodied, deep, layered and has gorgeous purity of fruit … It
is already drinking beautifully, yet should evolve nicely for upwards of a
decade.”
Bergerie de
l’Hortus rouge 2012: Rating
90.
“It over
delivers and it’s reminiscent of a Cote-Rotie with its white pepper, olive,
underbrush, blackberry and even hints of bacon fat on the nose. Medium bodied
elegant and beautifully seamless and silky, with fine tannin and good acidity,
it should be enjoyed over the coming 3-5 years.

91+ Parker Points for De Stefani 1624
eRobertParker.com awards the 2008 De Stefani Stefen 1624 with 91+ points.

Here's what the review from eRobertParker.com said:
"The 2008 Stefen 1624 pays homage to the winery's founding De Stefani family (spelled "Stefen" in old Italian) that traces its lineage back to the year 1642. This is an exciting and impressive effort. Marzemio grapes are harvested at the end of October and subsequently air-dired to increase their sugar concentration. After fermentation, the wine is aged in barrique for 36 months. It opens to a bright garnet-ruby colour and pristine aromas of small berry, dried currant and cherry cola. Drink 2015-2022.
De Stefani's wines offer new tastes from an eccentric selection of mostly indigenous Italian grapes. Today. Alessandro De Stefani manages the estate and represents the fourth generation of this winemaking family to do so. If you are passionate about Italian native grapes like Raboso and Marzemino these are definitely worth seeking out."
