Schild Estate are proud to announce that the striking new labels for the Estate Wines have won multiple medals at the San Francisco International Wine Competition- Label Design Awards.
The work by Black Squid Design, South Australia, has been honoured with the prestigious DOUBLE GOLD Design Award by the international judging committee amidst thousands of labels.
With an INDIVIDUAL DOUBLE GOLD , the Schild Estate Barossa Valley Shiraz occupies peak position. This striking label features the gnarled hands of patriarch Ed Schild, holding Barossan dirt from one of the vineyards. The clarity and texture of the image perfectly captures the family’s sense of place, and its commitment to crafting authentic Estate Grown wines.
The GMS label takes an INDIVIDUAL GOLD plus the GOLD SERIES awards. The three generations of hands holding a pitch fork speaks to the consumer of the generations of family who have made Schild Estate their home. It’s a powerful image connecting the wine and the family.
“We wanted the images to be earthy, gritty” says Derek Butler, Director of Black Squid Design. “For consumers to feel connected they had to feature real people in real places”.
Each new label in the Estate Range represents a member of the Schild family, or a long held family emblem, sharing special family stories with consumers.
The San Francisco Label Design Awards are prestigious awards given to the top designs that have achieved an exemplary level of greatness in design. The awards recognise excellence in label design in the wine industry.
“Our professional judges have selected these winning designs for their high artistic merit and brand enhancing
communicative qualities.” say organisers.
Schild Estate is an International brand and we recognised that wine lovers want to feel connected to the wines they purchase, says Casey Mohr, General Manager, so we wanted to evolve the brand to bring consumers closer to the family and the vineyards in the Southern Barossa.
With an INDIVIDUAL SILVER also awarded to the Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 Medals in total, Schild Estate and Black
Squid Design can proudly say the new labels have done exactly that.
