The aromas on this beaut are nothing short of incredible!
You're immediately charmed with a sensational nose of crushed violet sweets
from the olden days, lavender and bursts of blueberries. It's so wonderfully
pure. There is a mix of fresh summer flowers, a chalky minerality and even has
a subtle minty fresh lift. The nose is so, so pretty, complex and wonderful at
this age that it could easily draw tears from any Pinot Noir aficionado; it is
that good!
The delights follow through on the palate with a soft,
round, velvety texture. This is definitely more of the feminine style of Le
Musigny rather than the more robust B-M but it still has great expression. A
mix of red fruit punch rumbles along with a gorgeous flow of violets and
potpourri - no flavours dominate, they all bind together in perfect harmony
with poise and a definite sophistication. It is balanced to perfection, medium
bodied, silky, pure, fresh and just so easy to drink!
The class, the charm, the experience...this is Grand Cru
for a reason and fully deserves both the accolade and the premium price tag.
This is easily the best young wine I have ever tried and
possibly the best red wine I have tried full stop.
My only worry whilst this is so young, will this wine
close down? And if so, when will it reemerge? But that's Burgundy.....
