We had a fantastic day at the Australia Trade tasting yesterday at the Saatchi gallery off the King's Road. The Saatchi gallery yet again proved a fabulous venue for this wonderful event that is always one of the highlights of the wine event calendar. Camilla, Gabrielle and the team at Wine Australia deserve high praise for a faultless event that was well attended by both press and trade.
Bancroft Wines were exhibiting in Gallery 1 on Table 6, representing both Ten Minutes by Tractor and Schild Estate. The wines were showing very well and the buzz about the room was enthralling.
We were lucky to have Martin Spedding on our table this year, owner and winemaker of Ten Minutes by Tractor. It is always a pleasure to see him and his passion is very evident from the quality of his wines.
After a long day on our feet we were looking forward to a cold beer and what better way to finish Australia Day than with a Coopers Pale Ale!
Sarah Ahmed then led the final of the University Wine Challenge, an initiative that has been running for a few months around the universities in the country. In the final was Oxford University and Edinburgh. After battling it out with some rather difficult questions, Oxford University reigned and won a trip to Australia.
We are looking forward to see what Wine Australia has in store for us over the next year.
