Luigi Bosca Dinner and tasting at the Oriental Club, By Rob Allen

One of the most beautiful rooms I have ever held a tasting, the library at the Oriental club. The inception of this Luigi Bosca evening was back at the Argentine generic tasting at the start of the year, when we met the Chair of the Club's Wine Society. He was very keen we came along to preach the gospel according to Mendoza Malbec to convert his dyed in the wool Bordeaux drinkers.

Yea verily we started the sermon with the uplifting delights of La Linda Torrontes coupled with the delightful GALA 3. With the club's strong Oriental links and food accordingly (we were told their curries are justifiably revered) the aromatic whites hit a great level - would have been ideal with my South Indian Fish Sandwich* I was treated to, post tasting. Then we hit the crowd pleasing red territory of the Single Vineyard Malbec and GALA 4 Cabernet Franc & Malbec blend. The next red pair of Finca los Nobles Malbec Verdot & Icono worked wonders on healing the troubled bosom of the room and paired well with the cheese, making grown men recant their French Malbec drinking follies.

We finished with the near spiritual late harvest Gewürztraminer to cleanse our palates (and maybe our souls?!) to round off a lovely wine journey, brilliantly tour led by Soledad. Thanks to the club's very helpful staff and Chris, the Chairman of the Oriental Club's Wine Society.
*For those curious, a South Indian fish sandwich is plaice stuffed with curried crab, not sparing Satan’s fieriest chillies.
