Days Two and Three at the LIWF, by Cindy Bonillo

Another early start on day two at 8 am, although not for the regional team who were still in their hotel enjoying a nice long breakfast! This was the busiest day by far and everyone rallied around to ensure clients were looked after and producers given breaks for coffee and lunch.

After a long day on our feet we welcomed an ice cold beer and then headed off to The Jugged Hare on Chiswell Street at Moorgate with all the producers to thank them for all their hard work. After battling with the DLR for over an hour, another beer beckoned and everyone chatted outside to cool down.

The Jugged Hare’s private room is beautiful and decked out to a very high standard and of course the food is delicious.

As a starter we enjoyed honey roast kiln salmon, beetroot, horseradish paired with a glass of Condrieu from the Domaine François Villard, then a Puligny from Paul Pillot. For the main course I had braised rabbit leg, faggots, peas, bacon, mustard sauce with a Morgon from Foillard, followed by a Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Domaine la Ferme du Mont. For me the icing on the cake was a bread and butter pudding with a smooth vanilla ice cream. A great ending to a perfect meal. Some of the others in the Bancroft team went onto a few bars to celebrate with party animals David from Cederberg and Juan from Vina Pedrosa.
Day Three set up at 9am and there were a few sore heads among the team! However the team rallied together and we were raring to go again at 9.30am. I finally got the chance to  taste through the Bancroft range of wines on offer. Many wines caught my attention; the first one was the Gala 4 from Luigi Bosca: beautiful purple hints with black fruits aromas and a sweet and velvety palate. Another wine I loved was from Cederberg Estate made from the Bukettraube grape: a crisp wine with beautiful aromas of apricot and rose. The last one was from Schild Estate from the Barossa Valley in Australia, the iconic Moorooroo made from 150 year old Shiraz vines- simply delicious.
All in all, the LIWF 2012 was a huge success for Bancroft Wines due to the enthusiasm and energy of the staff as well as the passion that exudes from the team and the winemakers.
