Cederberg wins the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2013 – Best Sauvignon Blanc

We are pleased to announce that Cederberg Wines has been awarded the Sauvignon Blanc trophy at the Old Mutual Trophy Awards 2013 for its Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc 2012.

The annual Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show is  a local competition that started in 2002. In 2004 Cederberg Private Cellar shot to stardom when the Shiraz 2002 won the Fairbairn Capital Trophy for Best Red Wine as well as the British Airways/Comair Trophy for Best Shiraz. In 2010 the Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc 2009 won the trophy for the best unwooded Sauvignon Blanc.

This year the farm was warned: keep Thursday, 30 May 2013, open in your diaries, and they say they wondered whether the  Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc 2012 will continue its winning streak. This wine already boasts quite a list of accolades:

- The Michelangelo International Wine 2012 award: GOLD
- Platter Wine Guide 2013: 4 stars
- Concours Mondial du Sauvignon 2013: GOLD
- And a place in the 2013 Top 100 SA Wines.

So they were ecstatic when they received the news that the Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc 2012  won the Nestle Pure Life Trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc 2013 at the 2013 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show!
Once again, David Nieuwoudt has proven that a cold-climate white (and, in this case, without any coastal influences) if treated well, is a winner. Since the first Sauvignon Blanc was made in 2001, the wine has become a huge favourite with South African wine lovers.

According to David, “2009 and 2012 were really our BIG Sauvignon Blanc years. Keep watching this cold-climate space!”
