Day two on our Rioja trip and after the early morning bike ride in Sanmiego, the team are ready for another great winery visit, this time to Bodegas Altanza.
We were met by Ervigio who looked after us incredibly well giving us the full tour of the winery
A fantastic tasting ensued with the full line-up of Altanza's wines.
The team were definitely ready for lunch- and what a lunch! Anchovies, followed by roasted pepper and bonito tuna, chorizo and white bean soup, milk-fed lamb chops (yum!), and a cream cake dessert that is so typical Spanish. The braver members of the team then continued to drink wine, smoke cigars and enjoy "the best gin and tonic in the world".
The digestif was a 1979 single malt that went down incredibly well. Needless to say, there were a lot of sleeping lions on the bus back to the airport! A fantastic day and we must thank Bodegas Altanza again for looking after us so well.
