Great success in the Sommelier Wine Awards 2013!

The Sommelier Wine Awards' results were released today and we are thrilled to have been awarded 6 medals for our wines (out of 9 wines entered!)

Marjan Simčič Pinot Noir, 2009- Gold Medal
"A delicate individuality scooped Simčič Gold. 'Lovely and heady, this is open and juicy,' said team leader Simon Woods, continuing: 'Excellent, balanced, ripe and herby.' 'Dried rosehips, Bakewell tart, framboise and graphite on the nose. This is very feminine, with a delicate, lacy but powerful palate,' said team leader Angela Reddin. 'Well suited to food with acidity,' said Matthew Cocks of Cubitt House."

Hay Shed Hill Pitchfork Cabernet/Merlot 2010 - Gold Medal
"Warmth and spice on the nose continue onto a spiced chocolate palate with good length. 'Elegant nose of black and red fruits with minerals and oak,' said Guillaume Mahaut of The Jugged Hare. 'Soft, juicy Cabernet fruits, this has nice freshness, good typicity and not too much oak,' said a happy Laura Rhys MS of Hotel Terravina. 'And it's great value!' Match with slow cooked pork belly"

Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc 2012 - Silver Medal
"Attractive peach flavours with grassy notes of lime citrus opening up to a pleasant, well-rounded palate with grapefruit flavours, gentle spice on the finish and a spritzy acidity. With a good concentration and a long aftertaste, this is food friendly – think fish and chips or roast chicken."

Cederberg Shiraz 2010- Silver Medal
"Black brambles, pepper and rich oak mix on the nose. Matthew Cocks of Cubitt House said 'The palate is dark-fruited with an earthy tinge and fine-grained tannins, showing a long evolution of oak and spice on the finish.' Try with venison with a chocolate sauce."

Hartenberg Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz 2010 - Bronze Medal
"Deep ruby in the glass, with squashy red fruits alongside dusty medicinal notes on the nose,' the palate shows eucalypt, smoke, spice, and red and black berries,' said Tom Forrest of Vinopolis, adding 'Nice finish.'"

Kientzler Riesling Reserve 2009-  Bronze Medal
"Complex on the nose with typical kerosene notes mingling with lime and floral hints, leading to a rounded, layered palate. 'Amazing acidity balanced by lovely fruit concentration,' said Coq d'Argent's Olivier Marie. 'Good food wine,' said team leader Natasha Hughes"
