Marjan Simcic shines in Jancis' article on Independents

Jancis Robinson has just released an article on independent wine merchants following the SITT tasting in September. Bancroft had many wines in the article but it was Marjan Simcic that shone.

Marjan Simčič, Reserve Pinot Noir 2009 Brda 17 Drink 2012-2017
"Marl, slate, and sandstone soils. Fermentation with skin contact in stainless steel for 14 days. 22 months in 225-litre French oak barrels. Fun and dry and full of personality. So different! So confident, long and pungent."

Marjan Simčič, Opoka Ribolla 2007 Brda 16.5 Drink 2012-2016
"Only made in the best vintages. Marl (opoka) soils. Four days' maceration in open oak tanks, no temperature control, then fermentation and 22 months' ageing in 500-litre oak barrels. Dry finish. Lots of very serious intention. Great dry substance and a finish that is really long."
