It was the Decanter World Wine Awards last night, a much anticipated event in the wine trades' calendar and the wine trade was out in force. Alex and Neb represented Bancroft and our wineries who had won an award. Alex was representing Ghost Corner and Neb represented Marjan Simcic. These producers had both won gold and regional medals in their categories. However Alex had the great honour of also collecting the International Award for Sauvignon over £15 for the Ghost Corner Sauvignon 2012.
Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc 2012 (Elim, South Africa): Best In Show International Sauvignon over £15
"Delicate, cool aromas of nettle, pea pod and artichoke with saline notes over a citrus fruit-packed palate. Complex and multi-layered with a juicy mid-palate, a mineral quality and fresh grass wrapped in a silky texture."
Leonardo 2006, Marjan Simcic (Slovenia): Best In Show Regional Trophy Slovenian Sweet over £15:
"Very distinctive and almost tawny in appearance. Intense, complex aromas of apricot marmalade, Christmas pudding and spice over a rich, nutty palate of lifted caramely fruit with orange peel, coffee and nutmeg. Long toffee and butterscotch finish."
Congratulations to both wineries on this fantastic achievement!
