Decanter discovers a “new classic”

Drink 2012-2020. Alcohol 14%.
“Soft, subtle, dark, deep fruit aromatics. Huge fruit, power, richness and concentration. Ultra-modern, even in Ribera del Duero terms. A new classic.”
“This must be the only winery in the world to have its own rock music studio. Janvier Ajenjo is a musician and, with too arty friends, got the investment together in 2002 to start the winery, in rented space at first, then in an old water mill and finally in purpose-built bodega in Castrillo in 2009. They have 12ha of vines and control a further 35ha, all planted to Tempranillo. The flagship wine, Neo, comes from 70-80-year-old vines, and annual production is about 500,000 bottles. The company motto appears to be “films, music and wine”.
